Re: [californiadisasters] 9pm update on Meyers and Creek...

Hi Cindy,

The info I got about Simi was from KCAL9's live report.   They were showing the fire cresting the upper mountain ridge above Simi.   So it does have the potential of moving down into the valley at a later time.   I'd estimate this to be a decent chance, with the winds continuing to whip.   It's not super close, but the pathway is there.

Keep us updated and I will do the same.  My cousin lives on Cochran and I'm getting updates from him.

I live in Somis, right on the edge of Moorpark. There is no evidence of fire in either  Moorpark or Simi Valley.  Some fire is visible on the north ridge between Fillmore and Santa Paula, but even that is not furious.  I believe from the reports I've seen that the Rye Fire is the one that could possibly enter Simi Valley tonight, and would be poised to continue into Moorpark.

Am I missing something?  I just drove Grimes Canyon between Moorpark and  Fillmore and that was all there was to see.

Thomas fire is cresting the mountain range and entering into Simi Valley and Moorpark.   Everyone is saying the winds are dying down right now and for tonight, but they are blowing like crazy at my place in Northridge.   Usually when it's windy here, it's worse in Simi.

Other flank of the Thomas fire has jumped the 101 and reached the ocean about an hour ago.  The 101 is getting escorts.    There were reports last night that this fire had spotted at the 101 and 33 junction, which is also at the ocean.   But no one is talking about it meeting the coast until just now (conflicting reports).

I don't see any glow or flames from my balcony here, where I have a clean view of Sylmar.   That is good news.    And my mom in Valencia does not see any glow near the Rye Canyon fire.
