1999: A wind gust of 60 mph was reported at Palm Springs.

1998: Santa Ana winds started on 12.9 and ended on this day.
Gusts reached 101 mph at Modjeska Canyon, 93 mph at Fremont Canyon, 52 mph in Santa Ana, 83 mph in Ontario.
Trees and power lines were downed, vehicles overturned, and damage was done to property.

1997: Santa Ana winds that started on this day and ended on 12.12 gusted to 96 mph (unofficially) at Pine Valley and 87 mph at Upland.
Two were killed from flying debris.
Property damage occurred in Sun City.
Crop damage also occurred.
Boats were damaged and sunk at Coronado and Avalon harbors.

1985: A cold storm starting on this day and ending on 12.11 brought heavy snow to the mountains and light snow to lower elevations.
17" fell in in Mt. Laguna, 15" in Julian, 12" in Palomar Mountain, and up to 4" in Victorville and Warner Springs.
Highways and schools were closed in the mountains and in parts of the upper desert.

1972: Earliest sub-zero temperature on record at Yosemite, low dipped to -1° F.

1972: San Francisco International Airport recorded a low of 26° F and only a high of 44° F -- both of which were records..

1972: The morning low at Truckee was -20° F and at Cedarville it was -17° F.

1972: Las Vegas, NV, recorded a high temperature of 32° F.
This is the coldest high temperature ever recorded in the city in December.

1965: 1.36" of rain fell in San Diego in one hour, the greatest one hour rainfall on record.

1949: Gusty northwest winds in the central San Joaquin Valley caused considerable damage to roofs of buildings and shattered neon tubing on hundreds of signs.
The winds caused considerable damage to the outdoor Christmas decorations in Fresno's central business area "ruining them for the season".
Two men sleeping outdoors were killed in Hanford when a tree fell on them.
Fresno recorded 43 mph sustained winds, highest ever on record for the month of December.

1943: 3.8" of rain fell in Palm Springs, the third greatest daily amount on record, and the greatest daily amount on record for December.
2.56" of rain fell at San Diego, the eighth greatest daily amount on record, and the second greatest daily amount on record for December.

1931: 16" of snow fell at Tahoe City.
