PEPH Colleagues,

With the recent wildfires in California and elsewhere, we are reminded of their destructive power and their adverse effects on human health and safety. Researchers and public health professionals have a pivotal role to play in studying wildfires and mitigating their impacts. Sign up today for our webinar on this important topic.

Title: Wildfires & Human Health

Date: November 17, 2017 • 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. EST

Registration (required):

Description
This webinar will highlight the impacts of wildfires on the health of vulnerable individuals and on those communities exposed periodically to such events. In addition to children and aging populations, wildfires pose particular risk to those with respiratory and allergic conditions, those with chronic diseases, those reliant on medical devices, and those with a lower socioeconomic status who may not have the means or ability to evacuate from threatened areas. The presentations will cover how the environmental  exposures associated with wildfires affect human health and will discuss approaches being used to develop targeted risk communication about wildfires for a variety of audiences.
