Notes
At about this time in 2007, workers grinding an irrigation pipe accidentally started a fire that would burn through 240,207 acres of the Santa Barbara Backcountry throughout the better part of four months and cost $117 million to fight. No structures were lost although the fire did menace the Santa Barbara Front before being contained on the south side. This fire is the second largest in California history second only to the 2003 Cedar Fire in San Diego County.
