[Geology2] spider

i have uploaded a picture of something that i have not seen. (there are many things that i have not seen)i split open a rock and found this. it apears to be some long slender impressions of a crystal i am not familiar with. they radiate from what i believe to be a garnet. the phenomenon was found in rocks from the gile mountain formation which is near the ely copper mine in west fairlee, vermont. i am unable to see the actual crystal on either side of the rock i split. there seems to be another crystal of the same type in the rock. i am not good with crystals and minerals, so i would apreciate any help understanding what this is. thanks
