Rubbish dumped in volcano...
to find what would happen to a human

Molten rock destroys bag of rubbish
Hot stuff ... molten rock destroys bag of rubbish

THIS amazing video shows a bag of rubbish falling into a lake of lava - as part of an experiment to find what would happen if a HUMAN tumbled in.

The clip, taken at Erta Ale volcano, Ethiopia, shows a group of enthusiasts dropping the bag over 250ft on to the molten rock.

The surface of the lava is covered in a solid crust - and can actually be walked over with the right equipment.

But this team wanted to discover whether a person falling from the top of the peak would break through the crust.

The sack, filled with food waste to give it a similar make-up to a person, builds up enough speed to smash through.

As the intense heat, which can be up to 1200°C, burns through the contents, the lava starts to bubble and shoot high into the air.
