[californiadisasters] On This Date In CA Weather History (March 24)



2002: Two funnel clouds were observed around Carlsbad.
 
1998: An F0 tornado touched down near Chowchilla.

1995: San Luis Obispo established a new monthly rainfall record with 16.48'' with a week of the month to go!
 
1964: A big snow storm that started on 3.22 ended on this day.
29 inches fell in Idyllwild, of which 22 inches fell on
this day alone and is the greatest daily amount on record.
26 inches fell at Lake Arrowhead, 23 inches at Palomar Mountain, and 18 inches at Big Bear Lake.
 
1958: Gale force winds associated with a storm system caused structural damage in Fresno. The storm also brought heavy rains that flooded streets.
 
1952: Streak of 24 days of below normal average temperatures end in Fresno. Warmest high temperature during this stretch was only 67 degrees recorded on the 24th.
 
1950: 17.0 inches of snow fell at Glenbrook.
 
1907: 30.0 inches of snow fell at Boca.
 
1906: 2.36 inches of rain fell in San Diego, the greatest daily amount or record for March.
Almost one inch fell in three hours.
5.10 inches fell at Cuyamaca, four inches at Escondido, Oceanside and Ramona, three inches in El Cajon and Lakeside.
For the storm ending on 3.25, 6.41 inches fell in Oceanside, 6.30 inches in Escondido, and 2.78 inches in San Diego.
Widespread flooding occurred in Fallbrook.
Streets flooded and roads washed out all over the San
Diego metro area.
