Dear Volcano Community,
After a long rain season on the Ethiopian highlands, underground
water reservoir below Danakil Desert is unusually rich. This has
triggered strong hydrothermal activity in Dallol hot springs, with
tens of green and blue ponds sometime tens of meters wide, and
hundreds of hot springs active over all the salt dome. Photos of
the ponds of unusual strong colors and activity may be found at
