It seems that as our modern civilization moves forward we are getting

more and more neurotic and paranoid under the strain of all our

relative safety and success and comfort.



I suspect our race was much happier and less neurotic when we were

fighting for survival amidst the megafauna of the last Ice Age when we

had smilodons and dire wolves to contend with as opposed to

radioactive granite and asbestos-soaked serpentine.
